Special Program Presented by the Workhouse Museum and History Committee
Correctional Officers and Federal Agents working at the former D.C. Correctional Facility at Lorton faced not only the daily challenge of managing prisoners of all levels of security but also the possibility of a fatal confrontation with one or more of them. A few of these courageous men were actually killed either in the prison or while pursuing escaped prisoners. This program remembers the lives of two Correctional Officers—Michael Hughes and Michael Kirby and two FBI Special Agents—Anthony Palmisano and Edwin Woodriffe who gave their lives while doing their jobs. Learn the stories behind the events leading to the deaths of these brave men as told by their colleagues.
